snarfd: New Study Reports the Obvious: Airport Security Theater Doesn’t Make Us Safer

  • OakmanNZ · 2 weeks ago
The LAG's (liquids, aerosels & gels) rule was implemented after a very real individual attempted to take on board a plane the ingredients to make TATP, an extremely volatile explosive mixture. Worldwide this rule was brought in, not just in the USA. The rule is a deterrant. If it was not there, then there would be an opening for someone to bring this onboard again.

We take our shoes off due to the attempts of Richard Reid also known as Abdul Raheem and as Tariq Raja, and often referred to in the media as the shoe bomber). Reid was a member of al-Qaeda and had been sent on the bombing mission.

How on earth is a study supposed to prove that this works or not. If it works as a deterrant then there will be nobody to study as they have already been "deterred". I do not think this study is something to get all excited about to be frank.

Carrying explosive items in your underpants is not desirable as 1. the amount needed would be obvious and 2. The chemicals needed would be very unpleasant on the skin.

I for one would enjoy watching you walk through the airport with one of those tee shirts on. It would take my mind of the waiting.

Here in Israel, there are always a minimum of two seats reserved for specially trained guards. If anybody is a threat, they will shoot to kill. The government here takes terrorism seriously, unlike you guys.
    (High trained plainclothesmen.)
No shoes checking, only check what's in the bag and so on.

"Oooh let's see what r in shooz dis piece of shit r bad u no kan haz shampoo."
    vs
"ALLAH WA - " Bullet through head.

I'm sure Israel is a lovely place, but I'd rather not live in an armed camp. Good luck with that.

Actually, the crime rate is incredibly low here.
Armed robberies are unheard of, because all males undergo mandatory military service starting aged 18, that lasts a minimum of two years and seven months.
(Women only have three months military training, and 2 years 1 month general service)
And it's far from an armed camp.
Your views of Israel are clearly views of one that has never been here.
